Player Weaknesses Style of offense. Many of his throws are improvisation, not a lot of experience with timing routes etc. Does a lot of duck and chuck.
Player Strengths Very strong arm. Does an excellent job of climbing the pocket and throwing receivers open. He can throw into tight windows that most other quarterbacks wouldn't even consider. Deep ball accuracy is very good.
Player Summary His father Pat Mahomes pitched 11 years in the Major Leagues primarily for the Minnesota Twins. Pat 's baseball background shows in his game. He can throw from all sorts of arm angles and often looks like a shortstop turning a double play. He is aggressive as a runner and you don't need to call in Joe Girardi to show him how to slide. Has sneaky mobility. Its hard not to be fascinated with his arm, mobility for his size and his toughness. He's a competitor. Can be reckless. Needs to be more discipline. Needs to protect himself better and get rid of the ball. If he can survive his youthful exuberance he could develop into a really good quarterback someday when he gets the opportunity to stand behind a good O-line and learn to read and pick apart a defense. He reminds of several quarterbacks in different ways. A young Roethlisberger ad libbing and stretching out plays but doesn't quite know how to read defenses from the pocket. A gunslinging Favre creating from all kinds of arm angles and taking all kinds of chances. A rocket armed Matt Stafford gunning balls anywhere and everywhere on the field. Like Russell Wilson in moving and sliding all over the field and running and picking up yards killing the wills of defenses that thought they had everything covered and dropping things in just before you get to him. Played most of 2016 with a strained shoulder and behind an Oline that struggled to establish any kind of run game.
